Fernando Ferroni is a physicist specializing in experimental particle and astroparticle physics. He graduated in physics from Sapienza University of Rome in 1975, where he later became a full professor.
His research focuses on neutrino physics, CP violation, particle detectors, and neutrinoless double beta decay, within major international collaborations such as CERN and SLAC experiments.
Ferroni has held prominent leadership roles, including President of the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) from 2011 to 2019 and Italian delegate to the CERN Council.
Currently a professor at the Gran Sasso Science Institute, he has contributed to numerous international projects and authored hundreds of scientific publications. He has been a member of Academia Europaea since 2023.
